honor to ancestors In honor of my African ancestry, I drum and dance in the African tradition. African-americans are unique in that upon returning from my first visit from Africa, I realized Africans did not see me as African. They saw me as an American separate from themselves. There is a disconnection there that only persistent visitation between the African continent and the Americas will correct. Decidedly, many African-americans are disconnected from their African traditions, culture and ancestry. Unification of both, will end this illusion of separation. Ultimately, all people are One.
